Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Picture
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was one of the best-selling games of this generation. With its groundbreaking multiplayer and intense single player campaign, it offered gamers something they hadn’t experienced before. Now, Modern Warfare 2 has arrived with a host of upgrades and tweaks to refine the Modern Warfare experience.

Modern Warfare 2 is an evolution COD4. The online is bigger, with more levels, weapons, perks and excellent maps. New features like host migration make the experience more reliable and, while the multiplayer feels familiar, it’s better than the previous iteration in nearly every way. There’s always something to work for and you’re constantly upgrading and unlocking new gadgets to give you the edge in battle.

The single player is short but intense, just like in COD4. Shocking plot points and huge battles make the whole campaign seem frantic and the large variety in mission structure keeps things fresh.

The new spec ops mode is a co-op mode that works brilliantly. The mode is a blast whether you play by yourself or with friends and it adds a ton of length to the already meaty game. You’ll complete missions like sniping waves of enemies and trying to eliminate all the enemies from a shanty town or trying to reach a checkpoint without being spotted by patrols and dogs. The missions are varied and extremely fun with lots of strategic thinking involved.

Modern Warfare 2 takes what made COD4 so great and revises it, generally leaving what worked untouched. With better graphics, refined multiplayer and the excellent new spec ops mode, the game is a marked improvement over its predecessor. It doesn’t do anything drastically new, but it is certainly a worthy successor. The multiplayer alone could keep you occupied for years. If anything, the incremental improvements prove just how great a game COD4 was.
