Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
The first Uncharted is regarded by many to be one of the PS3s best exclusives. Uncharted 2 takes everything that made the original great and pushes it to a new level. It even manages to surpass the lofty expectations that came with it as beautiful screenshots poured out during its development.
There is no doubt that this is an Uncharted game. The unique blend of humor, platforming and tight gunplay are back in full force. Every aspect of the game comes together to create one of the most well-rounded and enjoyable gaming experiences to date.
The story is brilliantly told, the graphics are mind-blowing, the music is awesome, the platforming is dead on, the animation is unbelievable and the multiplayer aspect is addictive and unique.
The artistic direction of Uncharted 2 is brilliant. Characters look realistic and come to life with incredible animations. Subtle gestures and eye movements make the characters real. The detail in the environment makes you feel like you’re in an actual place. The lighting casts color over the world and highlights the beautiful textures and organic models. Drake’s hunt for a lost artifact takes him through jungles, to the snow-capped Andes and into ancient ruins. Everything is so expertly modeled that you’ll be examining every object in the world even as you duck behind a rock to escape enemy fire.
So much time was poured into making everything about this game shine that I can’t really find a single thing to complain about. The game is filled with memorable moments. Running from helicopters, scaling train cars dangling from a cliff and sneaking into high-security museums are all par for the course for Nathan Drake. This is one of the biggest action games on the PS3 and it’s hard not to be amazed at every aspect of its design.
I could go on for pages about every detail of Uncharted 2, but the fact is you need to stop reading and buy this game. It’s an experience everyone should have!
